This compliance of this security act has resulted in the creation of a secure environment in the ports. The department of homeland security (DHS) is the lead agency responsible for the implementation of maritime transportation security act with the help of subsidiary bodies like the U.S, coast guard. The security act can be attributed to a number of challenges that include acquiring security port facility and vessels, a more interconnected port system with regard to new technologies and a much heightened international supply chain security. A Study of the Trans-Texas Corridor and How it Affects Texans      Everything is bigger in Texas. That’s what a lot of Texans what Americans and people around the world to know – you don’t mess with Texas. In the 1950’s, when President Eisenhower created the first Interstate plan for the country and implemented new roads in almost every single state, it was the largest engineering feat in the modern world. Now, almost half a century later, Governor Rick Perry is set to break that record, with the costliest, largest, and most incredible-sized proportion Texas Trans-Corridor, dubbed the â€Å"Texas Superhighway,†a 4000 mile, $175 billion dollar project that won’t be completely functional for another fifty years (Perry). This project certainly has proponents and opposition. But first, we must understand what the Texas Trans-Corridor’s purpose is in the state of Texas, and how it would affect the rest of the country as a whole.      Governor Rick Perry came into office as George W. Bush’s successor in 2000. Immediately, he laid down his plans for the future of Texas, without having the say of most of Texas’s constituents, since he was appointed based on Bush’s presidency. Perry’s grand vision is nothing short of incredible, even to the opponent’s eyes. At a quarter-mile wide, the Texas Superhighways that will probably soon cross Texas will be the largest transportation commodity in the free world (Stall). Perry’s idea doesn’t just answer problems for congestion on highways – it answers problems for congested railroads in major cities such as San Antonio and Dallas, and it also develops one of the newest concepts to the Texas way of life, high speed rail, which has only dared to compete in the Northeast â€Å"corridor†of the United States. Perry also wants to develop a utility zone next to the highway, which will enable electricit y lines, pipelines, fiber optics, even water pipelines toward any city that is connected to the corridor. Career Plan Essay
During the five week course of Business Communication and Critical Thinking, there were activities at the My Career Plan page on University of Phoenixes website that were required to be completed for the week. They were Career interests Profiler, Competencies, Work Culture Preferences and Reasoning Aptitude. This Author will discuss those activities that were taken and completed during this course. The discussion will also be tailored around how this course applies to the career plan. Career Interests Profiler The first activity was the Career Interests Profiler. Before the My Career Plan can give ideas as to the possible career paths for this author, a series of questions needed to be answered in order for the profiler to tailor the careers according to the answers given. Upon the completion of answering the questions, the profiler had identified three specific characteristics for this author. They were: artistic, realistic and enterprising. Below these were possible career paths that correlated with the three characteristics. Amongst the top picks were arts, designs, entertainment, media and sports. Innately a creative person, this author agrees with majority of the matches given. Critical thinking is an imperative aspect when looking at the arts and design careers. Innovation is key and requires a large amount of focused and creative perspectives. Competencies The second activity was the competencies section. This activity is to uncover the personal behaviors, skills and abilities to drive performance at work. The results from this activity were formulated by yet another series of questions to accurately identify the test takers specific competencies. Results from this test were similarly accurate as well. Organization, following instructions and innovating were among the top strengths for this author. All of these strengths are important in the world of business and communication, and also assist in the ability to critical thinking. Work Culture Preferences The third activity was Work Culture Preferences, which helped to uncover the personal ideal work culture and discover where this author would perform the best. The results form the questionnaire stated that this authors work culture is Leadership intensive, Supportive and Expert. These are cultures in a working atmosphere that are very agreeable to this author. The need for leadership, along with ongoing support from that leadership is imperative. Also, the need to be a valued member or superior in the working environment is equally as important as the others. Reasoning Aptitude Lastly, Reasoning Aptitude was the final activity required to complete the My Career Plan activities. The results form this was the same as the competencies earlier described. The objective was to formulate a personal aptitude range to career exploration. The only addition to this section stated that this author was focused. Conclusion This author sees the importance to the My Career Plan. Knowing this information can allow the user to generate a clear idea of the desired work environment in a career that suites the needs and strengths of the student. Blindly searching for a career path without knowing what interests, competencies, work culture and reasoning aptitudes align with the student can be very difficult, and next to impossible.

Katherine and Bianca in William Shakespeares The Taming of the Shrew Shakespeares Taming of the Shrew shows two sisters: Katherina and Bianca, as two complete contrasts to each other. He used various techniques to achieve these effects. The same techniques are used for both sisters to show comparisons between their characters. Shakespeare created two different characters by making the outcome of the techniques very different from each other. Shakespeare has used the theme of deception and disguise and based the play on the idea that things are not always as they seem. One of the techniques used is presentation of the two girls based on their behaviour and speech. The Great Depression From black Thursday on October 24, 1929, to December 7, 1941, and the attack on Pearl Harbor, America endured many changes concerning The Great Depression. From the Hooveradministration to Franklin D. Roosevelt; the desperate economic condition threatening the United States in the late twenties and thirties only grew worse. The United States was in total economic failure; the previous presidents did nothing to improve our nations status; although, with the election of Roosevelt in 1932 and his unique New Deal coming to office, America was to be radically transformed. Under the Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA) of 1933, even the small population of farmers was recognized by Roosevelts legislation. The AAA created more compe tition by forcing farmers to limit their crop size, thus introducing more farmers for lower prices. Yet, even all of these attempts did not actually help the United States get out of the Depression; America added over six billion dollars to the debt. Although physically the first 100 days of Franklin Roosevelt damaged our economy; in the minds of the citizens, America was improving (Doc D) - there were jobs, food, and money to be collected. Next, legislation was passed to allow the federal government to become an effective regulator in society. The implementation of the new laws controlled businesses and wages, and effectively managed the economy. Franklin D. Roosevelt did an excellent job to leave no one out of his regulation, thus not being able to be criticized by his opposition.
